Allegro has revisited its idea of selling alcohol. One LinkedIn user pointed out that it is already possible to buy "high voltage" drinks via the platform. As far as I can see, there are currently less than 200 alcoholic beverage listings available on allegro.pl, from a single seller.

To enter the ‘Alcohol’ sub-category, the user must declare that they are of legal age. The only delivery methods available are personal collection and delivery by courier to the indicated address. Allegro specifies that alcohol can only be collected by a person of legal age and sober. The buyer must collect the parcel from the courier in person, providing the PIN given to him earlier by the platform.

As I mentioned before, this is Allegro's second approach to offering alcohol online. At the end of September last year, it was reportedly planning to launch a pilot programme to sell alcohol products, which you could read about on cashless.pl in the text: 'Allegro will allow alcohol to be sold. It also announced several other changes, including increases in delivery fees'. The launch of the new category was scheduled for 21 October, but a few days before this date, Allegro announced that it was suspending the pilot. It was probably not without significance that Poland was then living through the so-called alcotubes scandal, i.e., alcohol sold in plastic tubes resembling those with fruit mousses for children. This was not a favorable atmosphere for the implementation of solutions potentially facilitating access to alcohol.
